Deakin University respects the privacy of users of its website and complies with the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic) when collecting, using, or handling personal information.

Collection Statement
The University will collect your personal information (name, address, email address, phone number, fax number), via the “Houseme” registration process for the purpose of operating the Houseme website, including providing your details to potential tenants (students), and to enable us to contact you in association with off-campus housing. Your contact details will be available via the "Houseme" website to all registered users.

Storage
The University will hold your personal information on secure computer servers and in paper record format.

Use and Disclosure
The University will only disclose your personal information with your permission to potential tenants (students), for the purpose of putting you in touch with them. In the event of a complaint or issue requiring investigation by the University’s housing staff or external authorities, your personal information may be provided to Consumer Affairs Victoria and/or Victoria Police and/or the appropriate local council. Unless required by law, the University will not disclose your personal information obtained via the “Houseme” registration process to other third parties.

Access to personal information
Access to and correction of personal information held by the University is managed in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
